An important aspect of the Seacoast Artists Guild Mission is to support
youth programs which feature education and experiences involving the visual
arts.  The Guild focuses many of its fundraising efforts toward the support of
it’s youth programs which include exhibition opportunities and scholarships.
The Cushman Scholarship Fund, named after the late Walter and Marcelle
Cushman, who pioneered the efforts of the Guild’s youth programs, annually
offers $1,000 scholarships to an Horry County high school graduating senior
and a Georgetown County high school graduating senior.  The two scholarship
recipients must plan to major in the visual arts and attend an accredited
institution of higher learning.  The Guild’s youth programs strive to build
relationships with the community, local public school and university
administrators, teachers and students.
